Results and statistics

We have been dedicated to environmental work for a long time and have achieved very good results. Our guiding principles is to always use upstream solutions to tackle the source of pollution. This means we do not solve one problem by creating another.

  • Carbon dioxide – has been reduced by 14 per cent since 2005 measured in g/tonne km (one tonne of goods transported one kilometre)
  • Nitrogen oxides - we have reached our goal and decreased our emissions by 25 per cent since 1998
  • Sulphur in fuel – we were the first deep sea shipping company with less than 1.5 per cent on average 2004
  • Ballast water – we have installed chemical-free ballast water treatment system on five vessels
  • Antifouling – Wallenius stopped using TBT-paint in 1996 and the fleet has been TBT-free since 2000. Today only SPC and fouling release are used to prevent fouling.
