Swedish Shipowners’ Association was rewarded in Almedalen

With a clear message, a well thought-out graphic profile and a reliable content, Swedish Shipowners’ Association (Sveriges Redareförening) won the award for “This year’s best event installation in Almedalen 2009”.

The exhibition with the theme “safety, air and water in the Baltic Sea” presented problems formulated by Chalmers, and concrete, existing solutions that Sweden’s shipowners practice.

The background is the ”Östersjöposition” (“the Baltic Sea position”) that Swedish Shipowners’ Association introduced in Almedalen. Here you can read about how the members work with different environmental and safety challenges in the Baltic Sea today and tomorrow. One of the concrete examples that was presented in Almedalen was Wallenius Water’s and Alfa Laval’s ballast water treatment system PureBallast.

In connection with the exhibition a web site in Swedish was launched: www.östersjöpositionen.se

The justification for the price:
“Swedish Shipowners’ Association has in a reliable and interesting way showed how growth and increased volumes of sea transports can work together with diminished environmental impact. Which place is better to inform about this than Gotland where sea transports are the best alternatives from a sustainability perspective? Moreover are all the different country’s politicians, business leaders and creators of public opinions assembled in one place. By combining an interesting and relevant content has Swedish Shipowners’ Association succeeded in capturing the visitors’ interest and put the shipping industry’s issues on the agenda of Almedalen.”
